Thanks to the recent makeover trend, people are now more aware of the many benefits of cosmetic dentistry.
As technology advances and cosmetic dentistry becomes more popular, a greater number of people are requesting procedures such
as teeth whitening, porcelain dental veneers, and dental crowns at our clinic. With these and other procedures, patients can
whiten teeth within one hour, straighten crooked teeth, have gaps closed, and correct cracks, chips, and discolorations. Thanks
to cosmetic dentistry, a beautiful smile is only a dental visit away.
As always, your treatment plan will be tailored to meet your individual needs. Dr. Tan will speak with
you in detail about your objectives, then suggest the treatments that will best assist you in achieving your goals.
In-office Teeth Whitening
Stained and discolored teeth have virtually become a thing of the past thanks to rapid advances in teeth whitening
procedures over the past few years. In-office teeth whitening is available at our clinic for patients who want a brighter,
whiter smile without the inconvenience of repetitive, cumbersome at-home treatments. Completing your in-office teeth whitening
procedure at our clinic is simple and easy; the process can be completed in just one hour or two. Dr. Tan will first
isolate the lips and gums. Next, he will apply a whitening gel to the teeth. A special light will then activate the gel to
begin the whitening process. After an hour or two, the process is completed.
Porcelain Veneers
Our clinic offers porcelain veneers as a great alternative to crowns and braces. Porcelain dental veneers
are thin layers of porcelain that are applied to the front of the teeth to conceal fractures, stains and chips. Porcelain
dental veneers can also be used to reshape the teeth, close gaps and straighten crooked teeth. This procedure is often referred
to as “instant orthodontics” because the treatment can yield the same visual results as braces, but with less
investment of time and money. Durable and long-lasting, porcelain dental veneers give our patients a reason to smile again.
During your first visit to our office, Dr. Tan will remove a small amount of enamel and then take an
impression of the area for the laboratory. You'll expect more or less two weeks to receive your porcelain veneers
from the laboratory. When you return to our office to have your new porcelain veneers fitted, the doctor will shape, adjust
and polish your new veneers to achieve the most natural-looking result. Your new porcelain veneers will then be bonded to
your teeth and the dentist will speak with you about at-home care.
Dental Crowns
Dental crowns are used at our office to strengthen teeth that are fractured, chipped or severely damaged
from decay. Also known as “caps,” these restorations are made to fit over the entire visible portion of the tooth
and can also be used to secure dental bridges in place.
At our office your dental crowns will be made at the best laboratories in the Philippines and will
consist of the highest-quality materials to ensure that you receive the best possible result.
During the first stage of the procedure, Dr. Tan will prepare the tooth to receive the dental crown by
carefully reducing some of the tooth’s surface. This action is necessary to accommodate the thickness of the new crown
and to ensure a secure fit. Next, an impression will be taken and sent to the laboratory. A temporary crown may be fitted
to prevent your teeth from shifting while your permanent crown is being made. When your new dental crown is received at our
office, Dr. Tan will closely appraise their size, shape and color. Once Dr. Tan is satisfied with the fit and appearance,
he will permanently cement the crown over your tooth.
While crowns can be made from several different materials, all-porcelain crowns
are by far the most aesthetically pleasing. Dr. Tan and his support staff will speak with you about the options that
will work best for you.
Dental Bridges
If you are missing a tooth or several teeth, dental bridges may be the answer.
The most common type of bridge is known as a traditional, or fixed, bridge that consists of an artificial
tooth with dental crowns fused to either side. The artificial tooth fits into the gap left by the missing tooth and the crowns
are attached over adjacent teeth to hold the artificial tooth in place.
Bridges are semi-permanent restorations and can only be removed by a dentist.
The best candidates for dental bridges are people in good health who are missing one or two teeth.
To maintain your new dental bridges, it is necessary to practice a regular regimen of good oral hygiene. After
receiving your new dental bridges, Dr. Tan will give you information on how to best care for your new restoration.
Tooth-Colored White Fillings
In the past, silver fillings were the standard in dental offices. Unfortunately, these fillings contained
mercury, one of the most toxic of all of the elements. Thanks to tooth-colored white fillings, patients now have a safer,
more aesthetically appealing alternative to silver dental fillings.
Tooth-colored white fillings (also known as composite fillings) contain no mercury and are much safer for
the patient and the environment. They are durable and can be customized to match your individual tooth color. Tooth-colored
white fillings add strength to teeth that have been weakened by decay and can also be used to repair fractures and chips.
If you want to replace your old silver fillings with tooth-colored fillings, Dr. Tan can safely remove them
and provide you with a more visually appealing option.
